KARSA: 16-Bit Discord Economy Game
An Indonesian economy and cooperative city-building Discord bot powered by Bun, TypeScript, SQLite (WAL), and a server-side 16-bit pixel card renderer.
Overview
KARSA is a Discord game where server members work together to build an Indonesian town, trade commodities, and run cooperative missions. Instead of replying with long walls of plain text embeds, KARSA renders crisp 16-bit pixel cards directly in the chat channel.
Under the hood
Rather than using external image templates, I wrote a custom 2D canvas renderer in TypeScript (@napi-rs/canvas) with a dedicated bitmap font measurement engine. Every card follows a strict pixel grid with uniform margins and zero AI-generated art.
On the database side, SQLite runs in Write-Ahead Logging (WAL) mode with atomic transactions so simultaneous slash commands from multiple players never corrupt wallet balances or town progress. The whole bot runs in Docker on Linux with automated Biome linting and test suites.
